Review:Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner

I have a confession to make. Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Toner was the first skincare product that I ever used on my face in my entire life.

The very first time I tried it, I was immediately taken aback by the amount of dirt on the cotton I used despite having just washed my face. My skin instantaneously felt so clean, refreshed and smooth. It never stung my face and its light rose scent, which I absolutely love, all the more contributed to the refreshing feeling it gave me. Not to exaggerate but I can liken what I felt then to the very first time I tried on my eyeglasses and I suddenly realized what I have been missing all along as the world was literally made clearer to me!

I don’t mean to blow my own horn but, with continuous use of the toner, I noticed that my skin became smooth, brighter, even and clearer. What further surprised me is that I noticed how my pores became smaller after a few months of using the toner. My skin never went dry and I never had a breakout with the use of the toner. I may have had a zit twice or thrice a year, but I blame this either to zero sleep during those hectic times at the office or those times when I tried different moisturizing creams on my face.

The toner is made up of extract from the witch hazel shrub which contains tannins that cleanse, tone and soothe skin. According to the website of Thayers, the rose petals in the toner help restore dehydrated skin, bringing out a natural and glowing complexion. The rose petals, in tandem with witch hazel, work to tighten pores, control oil production, lock moisture in, and keep free radicals out.  The toner also has Vitamin C, a critical component of collagen production which helps strengthen skin cells and in fading scars and blemishes.[1]

What further makes this toner amazing is the fact that it is paraben- and alcohol-free. What more can you ask for in a product, right?!!It’s a total package. Trust me on this one.

I use the toner after my showers in the morning and before going to bed. You can, however, opt to use it as often as you like as some people use it as a refresher toner.

Looking back, I believe the fact that Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Toner had that good of an effect on my face made me less cautious of trying out other products. I was always held back in my skincare journey by horror stories of friends who would experience sudden breakouts  after trying out a product. Good thing that didn’t happen to me.

I know this product has received, and is still receiving, glowing reviews form users all around the world. So if you haven’t tried this product yet, I highly encourage you to do so. I’ve been using this product for more than half a decade now and I’ve never looked at another toner since then!
